Chris Chase Public Information Officer 850/922-0732 Fax: 850/410-2960 Tel: 850/922-3300 May 22, 2009 Page: 1 Armed Man Subdued by Taser Deployment Western Leon County- A Tallahassee man was arrested charged with Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest with Violence. Shortly after 11:30 PM Leon County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence in the 3100 block of Tyflin Drive reference a disturbance. Upon arrival Deputy Kevin Cox found a man lying in a grassy area. Witnesses reported to Deputy Cox that this subject had just threatened another man with a knife and had cut himself in the head with the same knife and also smashed beer bottles against his head. According to reports the subject had visible injuries to his ear. Deputy Cox attempted to take the subject into custody; however, a physical confrontation ensued. According to reports the subject swung punches at Deputy Cox during the confrontation. As other deputies arrived, Deputy Charles McClure utilized a Taser and immediately was able to restrain the subject. The subject, identified as Marco Hernandez 21, was then taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Leon County Jail. He remains there without bond. Sgt. Chris Chase, LCSO Spokesman said “the Taser enabled this violent person that had already harmed himself with a knife to be taken into custody without further injury or an escalation of force by the deputy.
