Publication of Drug Offender Photographs Act
Summary

NRA--the National
Rifle Association--was
the corporate co-chair
in 2011?

This Act would require the department of corrections to publish a photograph in a local
newspaper of anyone convicted of a drug offense. The drug offenders would be assessed
a fee to cover the cost of publishing the photo.

Model Legislation
{Title, enacting clause, etc.}
Section 1. {Title.} This Act shall be known and may be cited as the Publication of
Drug Offender Photographs Act.

Section 2. Upon the conviction of any person for a violation of the [controlled

substance act], a current front face photograph of the convicted person, with that
person's name clearly visible on the picture, shall be published in one newspaper of
general circulation in the community of residence of the convicted. The court of
jurisdiction may assess a fee to cover the cost of publication. The department of
corrections shall provide the photograph and provide for the publication.

Section 3. {Severability clause.}
