London Cop Pleads Guilty to Secretly Filming Nude Women

A London police officer pleaded guilty on September 13, 2021, to using hidden cameras to covertly film the genitals of naked women who answered his advertisement for models to pose for more tasteful nude photographs.

The cop, 40-year-old Neil Corbel, was suspended from his job as a detective for the Metropolitan Police Department after a sharp-eyed model unraveled the scheme, which he ran from January 2017 to February 2020.

The woman said a clock in the room caught her attention, later finding when she searched its brand name on the Internet that it was actually a spy camera. She was one of 19 women willing to give statements to police, though cops said Corbel’s computer contained almost 131 hours of video footage featuring 51 women in all.

Prosecutor Babatunde Alabi told Westminster Magistrate’s Court that Corbel claimed to be a pilot in the ads that lured his victims to hotel rooms and AirBnBs in London, Brighton and Manchester. In addition to the spy-camera clock, he shot the surreptitious video footage on devices hidden in tissue boxes, phone chargers, an air freshener and even his eyeglasses, maneuvering the women so that they could be covertly filmed between their legs.

“By and large they were all models,” Alabi said. “Apart from one, who agreed to be videoed, the others did not agree to be videoed.”

He added that some of the victims were escorts who agreed to have sex with Corbel, though without being filmed. Two of the models had some sort of relationship with him.

The former counter-terrorism officer pleaded guilty to 19 criminal counts of voyeurism. His boss, Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett of the Central East Command Unit, said it is “vital that the public feel that they can trust the police and, if an officer undermines that trust, it is important that their crimes are investigated thoroughly and robustly.”

“The victims in this case have shown incredible strength throughout the investigation and I would like to thank them for their courage and patience throughout,” he added.

Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring said Corbel obviously “went to quite extraordinary lengths to hide what he was doing.” He set sentencing for October 4, 2021, when he said Corbel will possibly face jail time.
