Brooklyn Teen Claims Two NYPD Detectives Raped Her, Demands Justice
by Derek Gilna
An 18-year old woman who calls herself Anna Chambers has created a firestorm after she claimed that two Hew York Police Deparment (NYPD) Brooklyn South detectives raped her on September 15, 2017, after a drug arrest, and then forced her to perform oral sex on them afterwards. Both officers have been stripped of their badges and police powers while the investigation of the incident proceeds.
Chambers said that she and two of her male friends were stopped on suspicion of possession of narcotics in Calvert Vaux Park in Coney Island, and although her two friends were released, she was handcuffed and placed in a police van. There she said she was brutally raped while still in handcuffs, and then finally released at the 60th precinct. One of her male friends drove her to Montefiore hospital, where hospital employees called police. .
The two detectives, Richard Hall and Eddie Martins, have not denied that they had sex with the woman, but claimed that it was consensual. That enraged Chambers, whose lawyer, Michael David, said that his client "was shocked that the [cops] would say it was consensual after everything that was done to her. She just wants everybody to know it’s an absolute lie,” he said. “She was viciously, brutally raped in handcuffs.’’
The NYPD Bureau of Internal Affairs and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office are looking into the incident. A department spokesman said, . “We’re aware of the allegations, and Internal Affairs is conducting an investigation into certain members of Brooklyn South narcotics." Chambers, in a social media post, said only, "Justice needs to be served.”
